═══ 1. Notice ═══ Warp Shutdown was conceptualized and designed by Eric Dorothy This project was coded in VX-REXX rev 2.1d. for OS/2 Warp. I am NOT responsible if this program is trashing or has trashed your system, damaged any files or caused you financial loss, or is degrading your mental health. Basically it's use at your own risk software. This software is Freeware! ═══ 2. Introduction ═══ Warp Shutdown is a public release program that displays informative messages to the user as they are shutting down. DACKEWARE ═══ 3. Warp Shutdown ═══ Did you ever notice that, if you have the IBM peer service running in OS/2 Warp version 4, the system will never tell you what it is doing on a shutdown? I have and it was very annoying. Until you figure out what is going on you think that your machine has locked up during the shutdown process. OS/2 Warp 3 does not suffer from this apparent oversight. Therefore the software I've written here works on Warp 3 but there really is no point to it. Well, I noticed the problem and I wrote this program to correct it. The program will do the following upon execution; 1. look for IBM peer services log you off of the network stop the IBM peer services (if started) write data to the disk and shutdown ═══ 4. Problems ═══ CAUTION: SOFTWARE BUGS If you find a bug in the Warp Shutdown, I would appreciate it if you would inform me of the bug through my e-mail account: mailto: Subject: When you send me a bug report, include a description of the procedure for reproducing the bug and a description of your system configuration (hardware and software). ═══ 5. History ═══ 9/11/1998 Warp Shutdown was created. I created an electronic manual in the form of INF documentation. Warp Shutdown has been taken out of Beta status and is avalible on Hobbes for download as a full release. ═══ 6. Thanks ═══ I would like to extend a special thanks to the following people. IBM, for a great operating system in which to program. My glorious, self sacrificing wife Samantha, for putting up with all those extremely late hours spell checking every word I misspelled.
