4.1.2 OpenDoc Templates

The OpenDoc Templates folder contains sample parts that can be used to create OpenDoc documents, as shown in Figure 118.

Figure 118. OpenDoc Templates Folder

You can drag and drop any template icon to the Desktop or a folder to create a new OpenDoc document. The following are short descriptions for each part:

1. 2D Graphics is a 2D graphics-handling part.

2. Page Layout is a scrollable, multi-page container part that allows you to see, on screen, how a document will look when printed.

3. Text Part is a base text-handling part.

4. Cookbook Part does not have any functions available to the user. It is in the sample templates folder for the developers.

5. Hello World Part shows you an example of a PM control as an OpenDoc part. You can see a counter incrementing as you click the mouse button.

6. Push Button Part shows you an example of a PM control as an OpenDoc part. You can see a message window by pressing the push button.

7. Ticker Tape 1 Part shows you a ticker tape text scrolling in its frame.

8. Ticker Tape 2 Part shows you a ticker tape text scrolling in its frame as does Ticker Tape 1 Part. This part handler subclasses from Ticker Tape 1; it inherits all of Ticker Tape 1 part's features. This handler has improved upon the updating of ticker tape text. This is an example of how new features can be built upon a part handler by subclassing from that part handler for the developers with its source code.

9. Container Part demonstrates changing the menu to share it by parts, embedding other parts, and drag and drop.

For a detailed description of each part refer to "Using the OpenDoc Templates" in topic 4.2.2.
