═══ 1. Part Kinds ═══ Use the Part Kinds Properties page to select a specific part kind to be used when creating documents. For example, if you choose the OpenDoc standard Page Layout Kind within this page you will automatically get the standard Page Layout part when you open a Page Layout template. Note: As of this release, only IBM OpenDoc standard and sample part kinds are available. Use Select Part Kind to choose a kind for the part you want to use in your document. The list provided shows all available part kinds (and their related category and editor) located within OpenDoc. The Kind column displays all available part kinds. For example, Page Layout Kind, Clock Part Kind, etc. The Category column displays all available part categories. These categories are dependent upon part kind. Only compatible kinds and categories will be listed together. For example, Page Layout Kind - Page Layout ategory, Clock Part Kind - Time category. The Editor column displays all available part editors. These editors determine the part kind and category, and will be displayed with the kind and category they control. For example, Page Layout Kind - Page Layout category - Page Layout Part editor, Clock Part Kind - Time category- Clock Part editor. Use Select the Preferred Editor to choose a part editor other than the default editor. This box will display a list of all part editors within OpenDoc that can handle the Kind you have selected in the Select the Part Kind window. Use Select the File Type to choose a file type for the part you want to use in your document. The list provided shows all available part categories (and their editor) located within OpenDoc. The File Type column displays all available file types. These types are dependent upon part editor. Only compatible editors and types will be listed together. For example, Plain Text file type - Text Part editor. The Editor column displays all available part editors. These editors determine the file type, and will be displayed with the type they control. For example, if you choose the file extension .TXT within this page you will automatically get files created as plain text files using the standard IBM OpenDoc Text Part editor when you open a Text Part template. Note: As of this release, only the IBM OpenDoc standard Text Part file extensions are available from this page. Use Select the File Extension to choose a file extension for the part you want to use in your document. The list provided shows all available file extensions and their editor located within OpenDoc. The File Extension column displays all available file extensions. These extensions are dependent upon part editor. Only compatible editors and types will be listed together. For example, .TXT file extension - Text Part editor. The Editor column displays all available part editors. These editors determine the file extension, and will be displayed with the extension they control.
