Scripting can be used at several levels to customize the behavior of
the application that the user wants:

Scripting can be applied to an individual part to customize that
part for use in a specific context.
Customization can include
initialization information, tailored presentation characteristics, or
particular behavior when the part raises an event.
The customized part can then be used in any
number of applications or documents where the specialized
characteristics are appropriate.

Scripting can supply extensive logic to be invoked when
the Part identifies an event.
This logic can link several simple parts into a set of
parts that act together to provide a needed function.

Scripting can link all the parts of an application
to coordinate their content and behavior as the user interacts with
the application.
A change in one field can be reflected in related fields by
adding script code to notify the related Parts when a change
event occurs.
In all cases, the script code becomes part of the document.
Scripting can be attached to any single, scriptable part or to sets
of such parts in a scriptable container.
