Media Selection

On this screen, you determine which type of media you will use to distribute your package.

Download
Select this option to build a package for downloading over an intranet or the Internet. You can build your customized packages on your hard disk, and then move them to an Internet server or, if you're a corporate administrator, an intranet server. You can also build your packages directly on the server by specifying the server path as the target folder. For more information, see File Locations.

CD-ROM
When you create a version on CD-ROM, you can also specify Autorun information. This option groups your custom package into a set of folders and provides support for Autorun, which is a screen users see when they insert the CD-ROM into their computers.

Flat (all files in one folder)
If you build your packages on a local area network, or if you plan to move your packages to one, select this option to place all of the necessary files in one folder under the target destination (for example, C:\Cie\Lan).

Multiple floppy disks
You can also create multiple 1.44 MB floppy disks. In the destination directory you specified, you will find a folder named \Mfloppy that contains subfolders named Disk1, Disk2, and so on. Copy the contents of these folders to your floppy disks. You can create multiple-floppy-disk builds for Windows 3.1 and Windows for Workgroups 3.11, but not for Windows NT 3.51.

The Automatic Install feature is not available for multiple-floppy-disk installations.

When you select this option, all of the necessary files are grouped together instead of being separated for disk distribution; files associated with CD-ROM distribution, such as Autorun, are not included. This option is most useful for corporate administrators who have a file server network and application deployment system already in place.

Single floppy disk (ISPs only)
Select this option to distribute a small set of files via one floppy disk; these files initiate the rest of the download process. This eliminates the need to create and duplicate multiple floppy disks. Note: Even if you specified earlier in this wizard that you want to build on a single floppy disk, this option is not available when you use the no-sign-up method. The single-floppy build will not be created.

Single-disk branding
Select this option to customize an existing installation of Internet Explorer (versions 4.01 Service Pack 1, which came with Windows 98, and higher). This option creates a Setup.exe file in the BrndOnly folder of your build location. You can distribute this file on any media or server. When this file is run, it will customize Internet Explorer features, including Internet sign-up for ISPs, without installing Internet Explorer. This option does not enable you to package and install custom components, however.

Internet sign-up by using the Internet Connection wizard (ICW) is not available through single-disk branding on Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1 unless the user is running version 5 of the ICW. The ICW version that was released with Windows 98 was not enabled for use with the new ICW sign-up method with the IEAK. You can also create an Internet sign-up program through single-disk branding by using the kiosk sign-up method.
