International Amiga: A Wouter comment!!

The Summer is here: a deep, havy, boring report is not nice to read...
So, read this short but interesting report of IA '98 written by Wouter Von Oortmerssen...
[ok, ok, It is not true! Unluckly Wouter gets some dollars for every written word. But I am not the Gates son (it would be a very ugly thing!), so I have to "sparagnare" (a Sicilian word for " to save money")... ;)
but the ugly thing is that Wouter doesn't accept money, he wants only telenovelas' videotapes!!]

Go back to the Index Attending the IA'98 was a weird experience because it was at the same time dissapointing and interesting.

Dissapointing because only a fraction of the projected number of attendees showed up, this made for a very empty show, many seminars of me and collegues (Eric, Holger etc.) with very few people, and in general didn't make the Amiga scene seem very much alive.

Of course Amiga Inc have some good plans, but they are still pretty vague and far in the future, and one has to wonder how such a small company with a decimated developer following is going to pull all these great plans off.

Interesting because I got to meet a vast amount of known and unknown developers and other well known people (including some of the new faces at Amiga Inc.), and had a great time hanging out with people some of which I've known for ages over the internet.

Still can't help to be curious and (carefully) enthusiastic about the plans AmigaInc have, because if they do manage to pull it off it should cater for a very interesting future. Having seen Havemose now who seems a very capable guy, I have confidence that he can do a good job.
