The Internet Wave - Beta 0.8 September 25, 1995 ===================================== Note: This is a preliminary release of the Internet Wave. It is given for demonstration purposes only. Do not distribute it. Please send all questions to support@vocaltec.com I. Setting up Netscape to play Internet Wave files: ===================================================== 1. Open the ZIP file into a directory (e.g. c:\iwave) 2. Run SETUP, to add the icons to your desktop (This is optional: The Internet Wave can be used solely from the Web browser, if you like) 3. Start Netscape, and go to a page that contains Internet Wave audio files. e.g. http://www.sarabande.com/iforget/iwave/ep.htm (more sites can be references from www.vocaltec.com/iwave.htm) 4. click on one of the files. A dialog will appear, asking you to save or configure a viewer. Select configure a viewer. 5. Enter the full path to the IWAVE.EXE application, and press OK. 6. The Internet Wave will now start and play the file. 7. Netscape will remember this set-up for the current session only. To make the configuration permanent, Choose Preferences from the Options menu, select "Helper Applications" and then press "OK" Known bugs: ============= 1. The display is using 256 colors. Display is not optimized for 16. 2. File/Open can open .WAV files and .VMF files. It cannot open .VMD (media description) files. 3. The positioning knob is not fully functional yet. 4. When setting the position to the end of the file, the Internet Wave goes into an infinite loop of "Connecting...", "Waiting for answer..." 5. If the cache directory is invalid or does not exist, the Internet Wave will remain in "Buffering..." mode with no network activity. Choose View/Option - "Network Cache" to check the cache directory.
