The HTML code for this manual was tested on various machines with various operating systems, running various HTML browsers. It is not to be taken as a comprehensive list of available browsers! (Fresco is missing from the Acorn platform tests for a start).
It looked best on Webite, with Choices file is edited to give more sensible margin arrangements. ArcWeb looked very good but put a big line spacing on lists, though its default styles were better than Webite's. Webster was reasonable, but it had problems with the images. On the PowerMac things in general were abominable, with the italicised paragraphs being virtually unreadable. Mosaic didn't get the centering right (it didn't under X Windows either), and couldn't load the images. The default background colour of white looked fairly bad too, and the machine ran surprisingly slowly even though it didn't have virtual memory enabled. Mosaic and Netscape on other platforms were very similar in aesthetic balance to ArcWeb and ran at a good speed, but the lack of anti-aliased fonts made for an overall inferior representation of the page.
