Warnings From The Program

Errors

These are problems with the code of the program or a situation that the program has encountered that it is not sure how to deal with. You should make a note of the message that you are given and report it to us.

When an error is reported you are given the choice of quitting the program or trying to recover and continue. You should almost always be able to continue and so should click on the OK icon. Occasionally you may get an error or series of errors that repeat and show no sign of letting up. In this case you should click Cancel to quit the program and then reload it.

Warnings

Lobster Fishing is able to recognise many of the common mistakes that people make when playing the game and ask them for confirmation before doing so. One example of this is clicking on the Go Fishing icon before everybody has placed all their pots. If you do this Lobster Fishing will open a window asking you if you are sure you want to continue. If you meant to do this (if for example you do not have any pots to place) then click OK to carry on, otherwise click Cancel to go back and place your pots.

The program does not just spot mistakes that the players have made but will also warn you if you are playing in a way that could soon mean that you will use. For example, it keeps a constant eye on the number of lobsters left in the ocean. If the number starts to drop because you are over fishing then the program will tell you this so you can amend your ways before it is too late.
