This is a general computing course, aiming to teach us about computers and the application of computing technology in a business environment. This course is a four-year 'Sandwich' course with a work placement for the third year.

In the course of my two-week work experience placement I was involved in many activities including dealing with customers and their enquiries, stock taking, dealing with incoming equipment, logging sales, answering the telephone and assembling IBM-compatible PCs from ready-made parts.

In this seven-week work placement I was centered around the Personnel department of the Girobank and sent out to do various tasks. I also spent time with members of staff in the mainframe management, reproduction, programming and performance monitoring departments. During this placement I also had the responsibility of looking after the secondary school work placements who were there.
Other Interests and Skills
I am a keen programmer, I have created and released over forty Public Domain programs for Acorn RISC OS computers. I have taught myself BASIC, C and ARM assembler and I am currently learning Pascal at university. Programs I have written have been featured in the Acorn press several times and I have also sold programs to an Acorn magazine.
