All Caddy units can be used in tower mode. All drives are compatible with the following standards:- Mode 1 & 2 data, Audio (CDA, CD-DA, Redbook), PhotoCD (Including Multi session) and White Book Video compatible (Green book video is no longer used). All drives can also be used in conjunction with the 486 Card to access IBM PC CD Roms.
All drives have headphone and line level audio outputs.
All drives require and come with an appropriate CDFS device driver.
The Buffer size on the drive does not appear to make much difference, to speed of use.
In our experience the Panasonic CR 581 outperforms the other Quad Speed Drives we have tried, despite on paper being slightly lower specification.

The IDE CD Drives above can be used in an A7000 as well as RiscPC's.

For A310, A400 series, A5000, A4000 & A30x0's The SCSI CD Drives can be used externally.
