just exceeded the best! Exceed 5 for Windows outperforms its predecessor in both
performance and functionality, and bundles all the components needed for robust PC-to-UNIX

Network File System (NFS) 32-bit client application is a high performance network file and print
sharing application. It provides universal access to corporate data, sharing of files easily
across multi-vendor platforms, and data security. HNFS support is provided for both Hummingbird's
TCP/IP and Microsoft's TCP/IP. Now, users of Exceed 5 for Windows may transparently access
and share resources, as if they are local, across multi-vendor, UNIX and mainframe environments
directly from their familiar desktop.

Over Phone Lines
To facilitate access to remote computers and networks, Hummingbird's high performance
Exceed/Xpress is integrated with Exceed 5 for Windows. PC, laptop, and notebook users may
access X Window System networks and hosts over standard telephone lines using a modem,
or directly via RS 232 serial connection. Exceed/Xpress has been designed specifically
to handle the increased bandwidth requirements of remote connections to X Window System hosts.
Performance is enhanced with modem compression features designed to maximize bandwidth.

Exceed 5 Includes Network Client And server Applications And Utilities
Maximum functionality is provided in one package. In addition to the core TCP/IP and NFS technology,
an extensive selection of Windows client and server applications are provided, all of which
are fully integrated into Windows. These applications include: graphical FTP file transfer,
Email, terminal emulation including TN3270, News Reader and other network utilities.
Applications can be launched using Launch Pad, Hummingbird's unique programmable menuing
and Virtual Desktop facility, and a fully functional BASIC language Workbench is included
for writing scripts to automate repetitive tasks. Server TCP/IP application programs include
the Internet service daemon (Inetd) for Windows which conserves PC resources by starting
and stopping daemons only when required. Inetd provides the Windows PC platform with the
functionality of a UNIX workstation enabling peer-to-peer connectivity among PC
workstations (LAN or WAN) by implementing server functions for TCP/IP-based applications,
which include" FTPd, Fingerd, LPD, and Xstartd.
- Telnet support for VT 320/220/100/52 emulation:
- Includes copy, paste, scroll-back buffer, local printing, text attribute color mapping,
automatic resizing of fonts when the Telnet window is re-sized, graphical keyboard
configuration, and scripting capabilities
- TN3270 support for 3278 models 2, 3, 4, 5, and 3279 models 2 and 3:
- Supports IND$FILE (CICS, TSO or CMS) file transfer, HLLAPI programming using Exceed Basic,
