Women's Officer- Jill Orr

The Women's Officer is elected onto SUSA Executive by the female students of the University and represents their views. She organises "Women's Group" and women's campaigns such as "Breast Cancer Awareness" and "Keep the Pill Free". She also holds one-to-one surgeries and can be contacted if you feel that your rights as a woman have been violated or ignored by discrimination, harassment, intimidation, assault or rape.

Women's Group

The Women's Group is a female only discussion Group that meets regularly to work towards equality between the sexes and to discuss women's issues ranging from political to health issues. It is free to join and you are not obliged to come to all the meetings- watch out for posters and come along if you're interested.

Women's Health

The Medical Centre and the SUSA Welfare Office provide lots of information on women's issues such as cervical smears (and the importance of these), breast examinations, genito-urinary infections, contraception and pregnancy. The Medical Centre holds a "Well Woman Clinic" on Wednesday afternoons, however it is usually quite busy so it is best to make an appointment. You can phone on internal tel: 7088 or external: 01786-463831.
