Hi There!
We are Stirling University Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Group. Our main aim as a group is to recognise diversity and work towards integration within the University and wider community.
We meet every Wednesday at 8pm in the Council Room behind Maisies . There is also a befriending scheme which is also held in the Council Room. This runs for half an hour before the meeting starts and is an opportunity for members, new or old, to come down and have a confidential chat with a committee member.
Our meetings are alternated every second week with a social evening. The meeting is reasonably formal and lots of important issues are raised for discussion. The social evening is very much more laid back and relaxed and generally involves having a few laughs and a good old natter.
We try to arrange regular bus trips for clubbing and other things to Glasgow and Edinburgh, as well as the occasional fund-raising disco in glow. In the past these have included a Rocky Horror Picture Show Disco and a Coming Out Day Disco. Who knows what might happen in the future. Apart from the fun side there are also a lot of serious issues that we deal with, such as campaigning against bigotry and homophobia, and attending national conferences to get more information and training to help you.
If you don't want to come down to a meeting ten the LGBT Officer is available for a confidential chat every Friday between 1-2pm in the SUSA Welfare Office. We can also be contacted via e-mail at stirlgbt@hotmail.com
If you would like to become more involved in the LGBT campaign then please don't hesitate to contact us.
Stay safe and stay proud!
