Who`s who?

SUSA is run BY students FOR students. Each year students elect student representatives to run THEIR association for them. This includes four Sabbatical Officers, who are in full-time, paid positions, and act as trustees of the association. The Sabbaticals are part of the Executive Committee, alongside part time officers, and the Executive as a whole is part of the larger Student Representative Council. Council exists to represent Stirlings students, debate and carry out policy of the association, and to run campaigns.

SUSA STAFF

SUSA - alongside the University, is one of the largest employers in the local area. SUSAs annual turnover of 1million + per year is in the hands of our internal staff - who are appointed to operate the various facets of the running of the Students Association on our behalf. This is a brief rundown of who is who and who does what

Eleanor Callaghan

The Senior Association Secretary - she knows more about SUSA than anyone else in it! Her job encompasses everything from Elections, to the SUSA Minibus, and Welfare enquiries. Part of her job is to keep the Sabbaticals respectable, and organised (well - as far as the public see). If you have any questions about anything SUSA-related she is the woman to ask. We ask her all the time. Oh - and depsite her protests - she is very partial to both cakes and chips!

Sandra Higgins

SUSAs Receptionist/Secretary - probably the first person you will encounter in the SUSA Office - be it by phone or at the desk in person. She does the vital work like typing, answering the phone and personal enquiries, and a fair amount of organization stuff! She also plays a crucial role in acting as surrogate parent to any wayward first-years who come in to the office seeking help. The key word as far as Sandra is concerned is chocolate.

Brabara Lapsley

SUSAs Management Secretary - the friendly and indeed glamorous face that greets you when you want to send a fax - or see anyone in the Management offices. Babs and Eleanor make sure that everything is co-ordinated and that everyone knows what is happening within SUSA.

Angie Gourlay, Maggie Stewart & Helen Kay

If Eleanor knows all about SUSA - then these are the lovely ladies who know all about things financial. Angie is Finance Administrator, Maggie and Helen are the Finance Assistants. These are the people to see if you intend spending any of SUSAs money - and they will keep you on track if you dont know what (if anything) you can spend - or where it should be charged. Dont try and put anything past them it wont work! If youre thinking of bribery or flattery here - you better make it good!

Helen Haston

Another Helen - this time the talented and overworked Printroom Operator. This is who you see to get posters, tickets, leaflets, manifestoes etc. etc. etc. Can usually be influenced with a "Crunchie".

Phil Doyle

Newly appointed Events Manager who works in close association with the Robbins Committee and student officers to ensure a professional, popular and varied programme of entertainment events within SUSA. As a Stirling University Graduate, and a former sabbatical - he has considerable experience with SUSA.

Janice Dunn

Is our Catering Supervisor and co-ordinates the catering provision in the Robbins and the Gannochy.

Steve Peebles

Gannochy Manager in charge of the Gannochy Bar, and its staff.

Nigel Davies

Robbins Bar Manager - the person most likely to see you inebriated at kicking-out time! In charge of running all the Robbins Centre bars - including Glow. Line-manager to Robbins bar staff, and stewarding team.

Ross Millar

The bloke with the dodgy ties who looks like Matthew Kelly is the Senior Bars and Catering Manager. He is the Associations Licence holder for our bars, and is the man to see if you want to organize a disco in the Robbins or the Gannochy. Ross is line manager to the Robbins and Gannochy Bar Managers, and the Catering Supervisor.

Gordon Thompson

SUSAs General Manager. He is ultimately responsible for staffing matters and the day-to-day running of the Association. If you have any complaints to make about the association, this is the man to contact.

As said before - the staff run the Association on our behalf. The experience and commitment they bring to SUSA goes well beyond their job descriptions - and we do well to remember that! Whether they be cleaners, bar-staff or management - they should be treated with the respect that they deserve.
