Fair enough, but does this 'run everywhere'? This adds real value to DE.
1stly ubiquitousness by way of the "try & see" aspect, plus addition of
above functionality in itself. People remember that DE will run everywhere
but may not discern import of inference that every DE app does. In games
the amount of time/effort in porting between diverse hardware is immense (I
know), and there is always a "backdoor need" to optimise for given
hardware. Multi platform layers have tended to be custom in-house
solutions. A standard one could be immensely popular especially if A worked
with 3rd parties to optimise it for GameSlabXYZ.

A bad thing? Must Amiga inherently do everything in a non-M$ way? Isn't
"much, much better" enough? You could say the A500 was just a "better" ST.
Better enough to sell millions. Right now people don't have the option of a
better anything, except linux/iMac, both perceived by Joe Public as
non-home.

A bit unfair, A didn't have to effectively give away free SDK's etc.

All in all, noone knows what will be. I'm not blinkered to the rest of the
industry, but I am glad to see a workable and considered plan. Niche
targets, real accessible unique value (the key IMO), consideration of cause
of past failings.
