I see - I missed that in your orignal post. But it is a very important
detail. If it is not activated correctly, you may never get it to work.

What kind of error? Try removing everything except the scanner (you will
need to replace the tape drive with an active terminator) and see what
HDInstTools shows then. If the scanner shows up this way then you
definitely have a termination and/or addressing problem. If not, then it
would still indicate a temination problem.

When you look at the scsi section of the early startup menu you will see
entries for 16 devices. All of the unused ones should be set to NO LUNS.
I don't think this will cause your problem but I have had it cause a
hang before. So you might as well elimiate it as a possibility.
