I have now finally got my CD-RW drive to work with the system now! Workbench
recognises it and I am guessing I can write to it (not tried yet with
MakeCD) but at one big cost...
In order to be able to actually read the drive I need to set the drives PIO
speed setting to PIO0!?!? If I set it to PIO3 or above (it is PIO5 compat)
all I get is garbage in the drive description in Finddevice or in HDToolbox
:-/
Does anyone have any ideas how I can put the speed up to PIO4 or 5 without
getting the above problems?
I am running on a PowerFlyer Gold with Version 5.7 of the Ata driver
software. I have a 15gig Hard disk as master (PIO5) and a 24x cdrom as
slave (PIO4) on the Primary IDE slot and the CDRW is as Master by itself on
the Second channel.
Drive is a Teac CDW-512EK 12x10x32 IDE CDRW
Surely by running it at PIO0 I am loosing all advantage of having the
Powerflyer installed?
I also have UDMA100 cables all over the IDE channels and they are no longer
than 14" (guess)
