with a modem (33.6 or 56k) you want either 296 or 576 - depends on what
sort of performance you want...faster email/gaming or quicker downloads.
for a network card, 1500 does fine.
Miami , i'm sure, autosets the MTU if the ISP sends the info down through
PPP
