Hiya Richard,

I have experience of using ZIP, SyQuest and LS-120's at work and home so lets see what I can
do
for you.

Zip 100 is the answer, either IDE or SCSI depending on availability.
I have an External ZIP 100 but I don't think you can buy that model anymore.
I've returned it 3 times to get a working one, obviously a design flaw in that model.
I also have an internal IDE ZIP in my PC at work and home.

As usual both LS-120s and ZIPs are just big high density disks, and are prone to the usual
wear and tear of everyday use, but the ZIP is in a better casing.
To be honest, I prefer the SyQuest disk and have an EZ-Flyer 230 and EZ-Drive 135 (both
SCSI)
and they wipe the floor with the ZIPs for both speed and reliability (shame).

Go for the ZIP if you need to share data with people.

I don't really use floppies these days, just ZIPs and CD-R/Ws ;-)

The casing is rather femer on the LS-120s compared to the ZIPs

[Conclusions]

* If you want to share data with freinds with ZIP's, get a ZIP 100 (250s are crap and slow)
* You can get ZIP disks for as little as £6.50, not much difference from an LS-120
* ZIPs are faster than LS-120s
* You'll need a Tower and an IDE splitter to use any of the ZIP/LS-120s (USB is not
available to us yet ;-( )
* SCSI is best, but more expensive, IDE is slower unless you have a Power Flyer thingy.
* Amigs OS 3.9 has support for ZIPs, and maybe PC formatted ZIPs (Easy to implement a mount
list)
* ZIPs are mainstream (unfortunately)

Hope I didn't confuse you too much, gimme an e-mail if you have further questions, like
where to get one cheap ;-)
