That's right, although it's normal to put quotes around the device name,
c:setpatch skipromupdates "scsi.device" quiet
I have done the above after installing os 3.0 on hard disk partition 3
dh3 and making it bootable reinstalled drivers for the ide flyer
but even after making the above amendments I still get hard disk error
when setpatch is actioned.
If I press the left mouse button to change prefs on the ata software
It tells me software reset and then goes completly blank for the second
ide port not showing the drive at all.
Is there something else I should be doing as well as the setpatch line.

I know there is not a problem with my hard drive as when I boot with no
startup sequence there are no errors reported and if I then manually run
the ata 3 software I instantly get errors on my hard drive until I
run the software without the drive attached.
