I work in Maplin, and the Retail Plus sets do change manufacturer every so
often, but the very same software is supplied all the time, suggesting that
they do follow the standard. For the past few months, the ones we've been
selling are Samsung mechanisms, and while I haven't had any experience with
their CD-RWs, their HDs aren't anything to write home about at all. Still,
all good reports about them, apart from one guy who couldn't get it to work
properly under FreeBSD...
