Other Problems

Other problems that current tools either do not address or make the problem worse are:

  1. Solutions to reuse problems entail learning new programming language/methodology, etc. which again involves the learning curve and cost.
  2. Asset classification is a difficult problem and adequate tools do not exist to help engineers.
  3. Part of the adaptability problem is that tools do not solve problems the way humans do and make them difficult to use. However, this triggers the question of what mental modules are used to solve problems.
  4. Do tools for object-oriented reuse differ from tools for systematic reuse? Should they? How can we foster reuse if they do not?
  5. Do object-oriented metrics, evaluation, and design differ from those for systematic reuse?
