WISR '95 Working Groups

The program committee assembled a comprehensive set of working groups for Wisr '95, 8 in total.

Two of the groups, the Micro-Architectures and Mental Models group, found it to their mutual benefit to explore issues in "lock-step" fashion, moving back and forth between the mental models we develop and use to reason about software architectures, and the hard nuts-and-bolts issues of constructing and composing generic architectures.

The Tools and Environments group decided very early in the workshop to become a "virtual" working group, sending envoys throughout the workshop and meeting periodically to collect and discuss different perspectives on their problem. The envoy concept was also used successfully by the Systematic OO Reuse group. Envoys were again sent to other groups to pull in different perspectives on the Systematic Software Reuse/OO "two cultures" issue.

The overlaps between groups worked out very nicely, with a great deal of discussion and cross-fertilization occurring during breaks, meals, and in the evening. The "cloister" effect kicked in, as golf, pool, and good talk blended with some fine reuse discussion.
