PVFS2 has the capability to support an arbitrary number of different network types through an abstraction known as the Buffered Messaging Interface (BMI). At this time BMI implementations exist for TCP/IP, Myricom's GM, and InfiniBand (both Mellanox VAPI and OpenIB APIs).
