Kermit is the name of a protocol1.1for transferring files from one computer to another over ordinary asynchronous terminal connections. Kermit is an alternative solution to networks, which are usually expensive, complex to install and often designed to work with only a particular type of equipment. Kermit programs instead allow any machine to establish a connection to any other computer reachable via a cable or a telephone modem.
