The Magical Music Box (Demo version 1.1) ---------------------------------------- 28th June 1996 Minimum system requirements: --------------------------- 486SX 25MHz (486DX 66MHz recommended), 4MB RAM (8MB or more strongly recommended), 8MB Hard disk Space, Microsoft Windows(tm) 3.1x or later, Windows(r) 95 compatible Display capable of at least 256 colours at 640x480 resolution(VGA or better), Windows(tm) compatible sound card, Headphones or speakers, Double speed CDROM drive(300kb/sec), (MSCDEX 2.2 or later driver), Mouse, Apple's QuickTime(tm) 2.1.1 or later (provided) The software has been run under Windows(r) 95/NT, but it is not a native 32-bit application. TROUBLE SHOOTING ---------------- Movies ------ Make sure you install the version of QuickTime(tm) which is provided on the CD (Version 2.11.57), using the installer and allow it to remove any previous versions. Even if you already use QuickTime 2.11, please install using this version, as it fixes some bugs from earlier versions. If you are running under Windows(r) 95 and currently use 32-bit QuickTime(tm), you will still need to install the provided 16-bit version (the two versions will co-exist quite happily). If you need to tweak QuickTime(tm)'s performance, you can use the QuickTime for Windows Control Panel to change various video and sound options (the panel has it's own help for more in-depth information). QuickTime(tm) incompatibilities --------------------------- 1) There is a clash between QuickTime(tm) and the Sigma Designs ReelMagic MPEG driver version 2.20. There is currently no fix, and Apple and Sigma are in the process of working around the problem. Windows(tm) 3.1 users can 'down-grade' to the previous version of the driver, which is not affected. 2) Cirrus Logic driver (v1.23) (otherwise known as Compaq/CL3X v1.23). Fix: Upgrade to v1.24 which fixes the problem. Display ------- If you experience crashes or screen corruption when running The Magical Music Box, try the following: 1) Change to the standard SuperVGA driver (using Windows Setup in Windows(tm) 3.1 or the Display Control Panel in Windows(r) 95). 2) Ensure you are using the most up-to-date release of your card's video driver (contact your hardware vendor for availability).
