Rob Greyhill

Rob Greyhill is a Dine’ Native born and raised in Round Rock, Arizona, one of several ‘rez towns’ on the Navaho Reservation. Mr. Greyhill has successfully bridged two cultures through retaining his cultural identity while attending Anglo schools, learning the ways of non-Indian society. Rob is very proud of his heritage, and his knowledge of his culture is vast. He is respected by Native people across the reservation for his patience, his willingness to always help others, and for his ability to teach.
But merely learning about non-Indian society wasn’t enough for Rob. By the age of 16 he was teaching others of his culture. Speaking his language fluently, he is also able to take what he has learned from the non-Indian, and share knowledge with reservation kids.
His championship dancing and singing have taken him and his family all across the world, having performed in Japan, Europe, Central America, and Canada. His musical voice is heard in the soundtrack to the CBS series “500 Nations” and the National Park video, “Echoes of Tenaya”. His spoken work includes voice overs for the McGraw-Hill CD-Rom Encyclopedia, and radio work. Rob also spent a season with Michael Martin Murphy’s “WESTFEST” tour.
Rob Greyhill is also an accomplished actor, and is seen in television productions such as “Touched by an Angel”, “Last Chance”, and “Miracles and Other Wonders”. He is also seen as an actor and stunt man on the large screen, really large screen in several IMAX productions, and the film, “Mortal Fear”. During the Voices of Native America Tour, Rob performs as a vocalist and dancer. His hoop dance, Fancy Dance, Northern Traditional dance styles are a flurry of color and movement. His voice is one of the ancient past, beautiful and strong.
With all of his work in the contemporary world, Rob is equally at home in a hogan on the rez, with frybread cooking on a fire fed stove. One of his primary goals in life is to assure that his family is raised with traditional knowledge, both in his Dine’ culture as well as that of the Ojibway (Canada), from whom his wife comes. And judging from his daughter’s dancing abilities, Rob Greyhill is passing his cultural knowledge along just fine. Hear Rob's traditional Cradleboard Song here...... Rob is also available for speaking/seminar engagements for youth and adults alike.
