BACHELORETTE

has finally been released!

There are plans on making a Box Set ß lß J≥ga, including the brand new video Michel Gondry directed.Bachelorette is a sequal to Isobel's adventures :

"In Isobel I discovered the big city with all the useless and futuristic things invented by adults. Bachelorette is a logical follow up: Isobel has become a grown-up woman who calls her sometimes cruel lovers to account." - Bj÷rk

The singles includes a whole bunch of cool mixes and a couple of new songs! Firstly 'My Snare' - previously released on the Japanese Homogenic as 'Nature Is Ancient', and secondly 'Scary' - a jazzed-up "Greensleeves-meets-Looney Tunes" harpsicord (played by Guy Sigsworth) arrangement. Here are the lyrics:

MY SNARE

what a surprise. you expect something completely new and you hear something known. my snare is the same song as NATURE IS ANCIENT!!

SCARY

the harpsichord is quite fast... and bj÷rk's voice suggests happiness.

HOWIE SPREAD MIX

is very similar to the album version. it's just less instrumentation, and the (heart-)beat was left away. the vocals are the same as on the album version.

MARK BELL OPTIMISM REMIX

well, the strings remain, but play something different... quite nervously... and there is a slow but deep beat coming and going here and there. then, drums start doing their best... like in hunter. Bj÷rk re-did the vocals for that mix.

MARK BELL ZIP REMIX

let's say this is the disco synch mix of bachelorette. weird sounds, big beat, fast, simply LFO-style. around 130 bpm. also here, the vocals were re-recorded for this mix.

MARK BELL BLUE REMIX

starts with ambient sounds... and strings are in the background from time to time... like also the beats do. as soon as they start, they're
already gone. and start again and so on. different vocals.

RZA REMIX

imagine the original version without the overload beats, but with an all-star bassline plus scratchy sounds from time to time. silent and easy to take.

ALEC EMPIRE HYPERMODERN JAZZ REMIX

dark and slow. very strange sounds (who did expect anything else???). a silent beat in the background. xylophone sounds and other unknown noises (car-hooter). but more vocals as on the j≤ga - alec empire mixes.

ALEC EMPIRE THE ICE PRINCESS AND THE KILLER WHALE REMIX

the most mean, darkest, hardest of the mixes. starting very silent and all of a sudden, the beat destroys everything. i don't mean that in a negative way, it's just the fact that i almost forgot to breathe when the beat started doing its work. i cannot count the number of bpm, i guess i've never heard such a fast mix.

GROOVERIDER JEEP REMIX

this one is also completely reworked. compareable to isobel's lonely heart, drum & bass like. it also has this dark touch.
