Stipe, Beastie Boys, Foo Fighters Play Tibetan Freedom Concert
Second Annual Event To Be Held June 7-8 In N.Y.

The line- up for this year's Tibetan Freedom Concert on June 7-8 in New York (at a venue to be announced) has finally been solidified. While more artists may be added, the following have already been confirmed:

A Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys, Biz Markie, Bjork, Chaksam-Pa, De La Soul, Foo Fighters, Ben Harper, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Pavement, Radiohead, Rancid, Patti Smith, Sonic Youth, Taj Mahal, Michael Stipe with fellow R.E.M.'er Mike Mills, and a special acoustic performance by Porno For Pyros.

This marks the second annual concert to help benefit the Milarepa Fund, which aids various educational projects regarding Tibet and was co-founded by the Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch. As previously reported in allstar, the Milarepa Fund is working on releasing a documentary film on last year's concert in San Francisco, which featured such acts as the Beastie Boys, Smashing Pumpkins, and the Fugees, and netted over $800,000 for the Milarepa Fund. In addition to the documentary, Martin Scorses is working on a film about the life of the Dalai Lama called Kundun, and Brad Pitt is set to star in a film entitled Seven Years in Tibet.
