Dial-up IP Services

-==================================================================-

Dial-up IP services provide occasional connectivity to the Internet through a shared access pool. This type of access is suitable for small businesses or a very small network requiring a reliable connection on demand. An IP connection is initiated from your computer to the Internet through our system. For the duration of this connection to us, your computer is part of the Internet and has full network access.

Dial-up IP Modem Access

Dial-up IP modem access is for low volume usage, primarily e-mail exchange using the POP (Post Office Protocol) and reading news from an NNTP server. You must have the following items to use this type of access: a computer, modem, phone line, and a dial-up IP software package. Please see our products list for the third-party commercial dial-up IP packages we have available.

Dial-up ISDN Connection

Dial-up IP ISDN access provides better performance for viewing HTML documents on the World Wide Web. POP email and reading news is also provided with this type of access. You must have ISDN Microlink(TM) service (installed by your phone company) and an ISDN router that supports synchronous PPP as well as either the CHAP or PAP security protocol.

Both Dial-up IP modem and Dial-up IP ISDN access include one POP mailbox free with service. Additional mailboxes may be obtained for a monthly fee.

If you are interested in ISDN access, please request our ISDN service and ISDN/Ethernet router information sheets.

Dial-up UUCP information is available upon request.

*An ISDN connection is significantly faster and offers superior performance to any type of modem connection. ISDN service is subject to availability.
