Dedicated Access provides your company with a connection to the Internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The components of a typical Dedicated Access Service configuration include a communications link between your company's external router * and our equipment, an optional firewall, your internal router and possibly a set of externally visible Internet servers.
UUNET Canada supplies the communication link and as many of the other components as you specify. Your requirements will determine the type of communications link and bandwidth. Typical link types are Leased Line and ISDN.
Dedicated Leased Line access allows the greatest flexibility for future growth. Leased lines are usually specified by bandwidth. The bandwidth of your link is the amount of traffic it can handle at one time.
Dedicated ISDN access is a suitable entry access for a small company. The bandwidth for Dedicated ISDN is either 64kbps or 128kbps (1 or 2 ISDN B-channels). Please note that if you are planning to receive a full network news (Usenet) distribution you will need a 128kbps or greater connection.
