Information about PVV
What is PVV?
Programvareverkstedet (PVV) is a student society at the Norwegian University of Science and
Technology (formerly known as the University of Trondheim, UNIT).
Our purpose is to create an environment for people at the university
interested in computers, and being of support to these
people.
"ProgramVareVerkstedet" could be loosely translated into English as "The
Software Workshop".
Our rules and laws are available, but only in
Norwegian yet.
What do we offer?
We have bought some
books
that are available on PVV. In addition, there are lots of the
member's books that are more-or-less constantly available,
and even more old (but sometimes interesting) books and software
manuals in our shelves.
In our rooms, we stack all our machines. These
computers are available to all the members, 24 hours every day.
How to get in touch with PVV?
You can drop by our rooms, usually there are people in the terminal
room 20 hours a day. The mornings (6 - 10am) is the time with least
people present though.
Our rooms are in 2nd floor Sentralbygg II, Gløshaugen (NTH), Trondheim, Norway. There are almost always someone there, at least between 09.00am and 04.00am.
Our board is reached by sending email to pvv@pvv.unit.no.
PVV also has three local newsgroups, one for announcements, as well as one
for discussions and
one for system administration.
