Along with document libraries and discussion forums (newsgroups), these pages link to pertinent mailing lists and provide pointers to excellent resources of related information. FinanceNet urges state and local governments and their related professional associations to provide Internet access to their local electronic public documents and asset sales notices and information, either by posting such materials directly on FinanceNet library servers at the National Science Foundation, or by posting on local government, library or educational institution Internet servers.

Vice President Gore, original sponsor of FinanceNet, believes that the Federal Government has much to gain from the experiences of state and local governments in their efforts to steward and account for public resources. To facilitate this sharing FinanceNet urges state and local government financial management employees to actively participate in all of the Internet services provided by this common Internet platform.
