The FedWorld FTP site contains more than 10,000 data files of various sorts that have been produced by U.S. Government agencies. Often, FedWorld is the original source for these files on the net. The directory index listings on this site are updated daily. Some of our most popular files include the Federal Job Announcements in the jobs directory, White House press releases, IRS tax forms and instructions and Cancer information.

And of course, tax forms, publications and instructions - in four different formats! Try a search on 1040, home or travel... or skip down and browse indexes for Adobe Acrobat (PDF), Postscript and PCL format documents.

Searching the FedWorld FTP site

This allows you to perform a key word search on descriptions, or abstracts, of all the files in more than 90 directories. Simple search strings will have better success then longer ones. The use of boolean stop words - and, or, - will allow you to build simple, but powerful search strings. We also recommend the use of * as a wild card at the end of a search word, i.e. astro* instead of astronomical. A brief help document is available.

The index for this search is updated daily at about 9:00 am Eastern U.S. time (-5 hours Universal Time). This search will display the first ten hits - there is a link at the bottom of the hit page that will allow you to see the next ten hits.
