-1- MICROSOFT LEADS INITIATIVE FOR VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORKS ACROSS THE
INTERNET
Microsoft Corp., along with 3Com Corp., Ascend Communications, ECI
Telematics and U.S. Robotics, announced Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol
(PPTP) (http://www.microsoft.com/backoffice/ntserver/pptppr.htm), a new
networking technology that supports multi-protocol Virtual Private Networks
(VPN), enabling remote users to access corporate networks securely across
the Internet.

-2- MICROSOFT EXCHANGE SERVER ON MSTV!
On March 5th and 7th, MSTV aired "Microsoft Exchange Server,"

as centralized management and automatic system diagnostics were highlighted.

-3-INTERNET INFORMATION SERVER'S ".CMD/.BAT PATCH" PROVIDES SECURITY
ENHANCEMENTS
To minimize exposure to security problems, Microsoft has created a patch for
the ".CMD/.BAT bug" recently found in IIS. Anyone who downloaded IIS prior
to March 5 should find out how to install the patch today.

-4- ENHANCED OLE MANAGEMENT SERVICES
Microsoft recently previewed the new OLE Management Services framework,
which builds on the existing set of OLE technologies, but now extends OLE
Directory Services into the management space. This new framework enables
applications to work together, independent of underlying management
protocols.

Microsoft's participation at the Healthcare Information and Management
Systems Society Conference

Microsoft's commitment to the healthcare industry and demonstrated the
support and choice by leading healthcare Solution Providers to use Windows

-6- PC WEEK CALLS MICROSOFT WEB SERVER "FASTEST, MOST SECURE"
The March 4 issue of PC Week (http://www.pcweek.com) includes a comparative
review of four Windows NT-based Web servers and hails Microsoft Internet
Information Server (IIS) (http://www.microsoft.com/Infoserv) as the fastest,
most secure of the four. The review concludes that: "It's hard to beat the
price/performance hurdle that Microsoft has set with its IIS."

-7- NEW CASE STUDY FROM SNA SERVER
This technical case study (http://www.microsoft.com/sia/manufact/3716.htm.)
documents how Abarta, Inc. deployed a centrally-located Microsoft SNA
Server-based solution to link remote offices and corporate offices to an IBM
AS/400 system. SNA Server (http://www.microsoft.com/backoffice/sna/)
provided a reliable, distributed access to AS/400 data and applications,
while preparing Abarta for more extensive client/server computing with
Microsoft BackOffice (http://www.microsoft.com/backoffice/).

-8- HP ANNOUNCES HP OPENVIEW SOLUTIONS THAT INCLUDE WINDOWS NT SERVER

This announcement highlights HP's new commitment to provide Windows NT
versions of their high-end OpenView management products. These Windows NT
Server based OpenView products will compliment the management functionality
of Microsoft Systems Management Server
(http://www.microsoft.com/backoffice/sms). HP and Microsoft continue to
explore opportunities to provide stronger integration.

-9- AMERICAN EXPRESS, MICROSOFT WORK TO MAKE PURCHASES OVER INTERNET SAFE
American Express Travel Related Services Company, Inc. announced it has
signed a worldwide licensing agreement with Microsoft Corporation to use its
software to enhance the security of American Express Card payments on the
Internet. On-line transactions with any American Express charge card or
Optima credit card will use Microsoft's version of the industry-supported
Secure Electronic Transactions (SET) protocol. The SET protocol will provide
highly encrypted communication between Cardmembers and merchants to American
Express, both in the United States and in most other countries.
