Vaucluse (84) Nearby: [ Forcalquier | Mane | Montagne de Lure | Observatoire de Haute Provence ] Photos: Prieuré de Salagon (20 k) The Prieuré de Salagon, on the plains just south of Mane, is located on a 2000-year-old Gallo-Roman site. The Benedictine prieuré includes a 12th-century Romanesque church and other good, solid buildings added for agricultural use during the 16th to 19th centuries. The Conservatoire du Patrimoine Ethnologique de Haute-Provence, at the Prieuré de Salagon, is an ethnological museum, a research center, and an exhibition center. The themes of the museum are History and Everyday Life. The collection of old tools includes the blacksmith's forge from Lourmarin. The ethno-botanical gardens present some beautiful flowers and aromatic plants from a region famous for them, and the medieval garden shows you what was growing here "way back then". A "simple" garden contains medicinal plants that have always been used in the southern Alps and Haute-Provence. An aromatic garden has a beautiful layout of plants, including lavender, sage and Umbelliferae. Prieuré de Salagon
