Subject of Test: Local flow at high angles of attack.

Airplane Configuration: Basic X-15.

Launch: Hidden Hills Lake on magnetic heading 180°.

3. q vernier will be set at 30°, a crosspointer will null at 20°.

GROUND RULES FOR NO LAUNCH: 1. Malfunction of any SAS channel

2. Malfunction of inertial platform attitudes

3. Malfunction of ball nose.

ALTERNATE SITUATIONS AFTER LAUNCH: 1. If engine light cannot be accomplished within 30 seconds, jettison propellants and land at Hidden Hills.

2. For delayed engine light add 5 seconds to pushover time.

3. If radio or radar fail proceed as planned.

4. For inadvertent engine shutdown: prior to 45 sec., return to Hidden Hills; 45-60 sec. proceed to Three Sisters; 60 sec. and greater proceed to Edwards. Two engine starts may be attempted at any time.

5. For yaw or total pitch damper failure do not increase a above 15°.

6. For total roll damper failure - extend speed brakes, proceed to Edwards.

7. For ball nose failure, maintain 2g until q = 30°, pushover to zero g at 37 sec., shutdown engine at 5000 fps (74 sec.) proceed to Edwards.
