UNITED STATES TRAVEL AND TOURISM ADMINISTRATION
The United States Travel and Tourism Administration (USTTA) assists development of U.S. tourism as a stimulus to economic growth and stability including increased employment, improved international competitiveness, and expanded foreign exchange earnings.
Activities and Services
Regional Marketing Offices: Directing its operations from headquarters in Washington, D.C., USTTA maintains 10 regional field offices located in Canada, Mexico, Japan, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Australia, the Netherlands, Italy and Miami, Florida for South America. These markets account for 85 percent of all visitors coming to the United States. Marketing Activities: USTTA offices in foreign markets strive to inform, educate, and motivate travel wholesalers and retail travel agents to sell the United States as a tourist destination. This is accomplished by:
- Offering professional responses to trade inquiries and giving technical assistance in tour planning and construction;
- Conducting workshops and training programs for foreign tourism industry staff; and
- Providing assistance in the planning and organization of U.S. product inspection trips for the foreign travel trade.
Publications
The USTTA's In-Flight Survey of International Air Travelers is the most comprehensive consumer marketing data base on international travel to and from the United States. The In-Flight Survey can help states, cities, and travel and tourism companies identify important market segments and develop planning strategies in key markets.
