The wolverine. It is estimated that the stock of wolverine in Nordkalotten may consist of at least 200 individuals. The stock has been dramatically reduced since 1900 and it is documented that the area in which there has been steady reproduction in Norrbotten has been reduced during the last 20 years. The biggest stocks are today found in the Nordland and Troms counties. The areas in Nordkalotten are of vital importance in the work to conserve the wolverine as a species in the three countries, both from data on stock size and because the distribution of wolverine is linked with reindeer.
