NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR CHILDREN'S EDUCATIONAL TELEVISION

NTIA's National Endowment For Children's Educational Television supports the creation and production of television programming that enhances the education of children. The program provides matching grants for television productions, which are designed to supplement the current children's educational program offerings and strengthen the fundamental intellectual skills of children.

A ten-member national Advisory Council on Children's Educational Television provides advice to the Secretary of Commerce on funding criteria for the NECET and other matters pertaining to its administration. The Advisory Council is comprised of experts in the field of children's television, education, child development, and related areas.

The Notice of Availability of Funds provides information on the most current funding objectives and regulations of the program.


1995 GRANT ROUND

The 1995 grant round has begun! The 1995 Notice of Availability of Funds was published on March 24, 1995, announcing $2.5 million in available funds. The Notice and the Application Guidelines are available on-line. You must request hard copies of the application forms directly from the program. All FY 1995 applicants must submit pre-applications by the May 2 filing deadline. Pre-applicants that are invited to submit full applications must file their proposals by July 26.


PROGRAM FUNDING

This is the third year that the NECET has conducted a grant round. In 1994, the program awarded ten grants totalling $1 million. In 1993, twelve grants were awarded for a total of $2.4 million. These funds were awarded to initiate new series productions, individual programs, pilot programs, and pre- production projects.
