Occupational Employment Statistics
This annual surveyùconducted by State employment security agencies in cooperation with BLSùprovides employment by detailed occupation within detailed nonfarm industries.
Data available
- Statistics on employment by occupation and industry for about 750 occupations and 400 industries.
- National data for nonfarm industries.
- Data for all States, the District of Columbia, Guam, American Samoa, Puerto Rico, and selected metro-politan areas.
Coverage
- Wage and salary employment by occupation for establishments in nonfarm industries.
Source of data
- Federal-State cooperative program; annual sample of about 250,000 establishments; mail surveys, telephone follow up, and some personal interviews.
Reference period
- Each industry is surveyed on a 3-year cycle. Surveys refer to payroll period including the 12th day of April, May, or June, depending upon the industry surveyed.
