PMInfo - Print information about Page Setup and Styles in a PM 5.0 Document Copyright (c) 1993 Network Engineering Team, Industrial Research Ltd, Lower Hutt, New Zealand. INTRODUCTION PMInfo uses the PageMaker 5.0 script language and Windows DDE to extract and print page setup information and a complete description of all styles defined in a PageMaker 5.0 document. PMInfo was writtem using Asymmterix Toolbook, and is distributed with the Asymmetrix Toolbook runtime modules. To run PMInfo you need Windows 3.1 and Aldus PageMaker 5.0. INSTALLATION 1. Unzip PMINFO.ZIP (zipped with PKZIP 2.04) into a directory on your hard disk. The archive should contain the following files: PMINFO.ICO PMInfo icon PMINFO.TBK PMInfo application PMINFO.TXT This file TBKBASE.DLL ) TBKCOMP.DLL ) TBKDB3.DLL ) TBKDLG.DLL ) TBKFILE.DLL ) Toolbook runtime modules TBKNET.EXE ) TBKUTIL.DLL ) TBKWIN.DLL ) TBOOK.EXE ) 2. From the Windows Program Manager, create a program item: - Select "File|New", choose "Program Item" and click "OK" - In the "Description" field enter "PMInfo" - In the "Command Line" field enter "\TBOOK.EXE \PMINFO.TBK" where path is the drive and directory where you unzipped PMINFO.ZIP. - In the "Wroking Directory" field enter "" - Click on the "Change Icon" button, and select the icon from your PageMaker 5.0 application. Now you are ready to run PMInfo. RUNNING PMINFO 1. Double-click on the PMInfo icon. 2. By default, PMInfo uses the command line "C:\PM5\PM5.EXE" to run your copy of PageMaker, and uses "C:\PM5" as the default initial PageMaker document directory. To change these values: - Select "Configure" from the "PageMaker" menu. You will be prompted for new values which PMInfo will remember the next time you run it. - Exit from PMInfo. When prompted to "Save current changes to: PMINFO.TBK? click on "Yes". 3. To get the page setup and style information from a PageMaker 5.0 document: - Select "Retrieve Stye Info" from the "PageMaker" menu. - A File Open dialog box is displayed, listing the *.PM5 documents in the default PageMaker document directory. Select a file. - PMInfo runs PageMaker 5.0 with the document, and extracts the information. Progress messages appear at the bottom of the screen. Page setup information appears on the first page, followed by a separate page for each style definition. - When all the information is extracted, you can use the "Page" menu to naviagate through the pages. Each page has one large scrolling text field. Use the scroll bar on the right to see more of the text. - To print the style information, select "Print Style Info" from the "PageMaker" menu. You are prompted to print the current style or all styles. Choosing "current" prints the style you are looking at; printing all styles prints all styles and the page setup information.
