What Happened to Windows95.com?

Windows95.com Has Expanded to WinFiles.com!
Since Windows95.com came online in early 1995, we've received thousands of email messages from our visitors saying: "I really like your site. Do you know of any like yours for Windows NT?" As time (and technology) went on, we started getting emails asking us if we knew of any sites like ours for Windows CE, and Windows 98. Well, the fact is that we didn't know of any such site.

So we decided to create one ourselves!

That's why we're proud to announce that we've expanded Windows95.com into WinFiles.com! Don't worry, it's still the same team that publishes the site, we just have to work a lot harder now :)

So What Has Changed?
The overall structure, content, and design of the site has stayed the same (we learned our lesson the LAST time we tried to change our design), we've simply expanded our sections to include content for Windows NT users, Windows CE users, and people who plan on upgrading to Windows 98 later this year. Our Shareware Collection, for example, now has sections that are devoted to specific Windows platforms, and our Newest Software pages are split up according to platform, too.

We've also modified our tutorials sections, placing them all in our new How To Articles section. We'll be putting useful articles in there to help you make the most of your version of Windows.

Our logo and link buttons have changed, too. So if you were linking to our site from your home page, please stop by our Creating a Link to WinFiles.com page and pick up our new graphic. Make sure you update your Web page to point to our new domain name, too!

We've also added a new Online Store for you to purchase hardware, software, computer books, and more.

Why We Decided to Change
We changed the name of our site for a couple reasons. First, we wanted to get ready for Windows 98's launch later this year. Second, we wanted to start offering our award-winning resources for all users of Windows, no matter which "flavor" they're running. Finally, we received so many emails from our loyal visitors over the past couple of years asking: "What's going to happen to you when the next version of Windows comes out?" We decided that we better come up with a good answer. And WinFiles.com is our answer! We want to be able to provide you with level of content you've come to expect from Windows95.com for a long, long time, without worrying about having to change our domain name every few years to keep up.
