These discs are mastered in "Windows95/98" format and use long directory and filenames. You must be running a protected mode CD-ROM driver to use these discs. The vast majority of CD-ROM drives are supported by the embedded drivers of Windows 95/98, but to use them you must not load any CD-ROM drivers in your config.sys file nor load MSCDEX.EXE in your autoexec.bat. If you CD-ROM does not function you might check the drivers section of www.winfiles.com for links to your vendors web site where you might find updated protected mode drivers specifically desgined for either Windows 95 or Windows 98. Windows NT users should not have any problems as all Windows NT drivers are compatible with the file system used on these CDs. Some of the links on the HTML pages on these CD's are "live" and reference remote servers on the Internet. These include links to the publisher's web sites and the links to the "Newest Shareware" and "Newest Themes". To reference these you must have an active Internet connection. All of the programs are included on the CD's, so unless you are trying to get more information on a particular application you do not need to have an active Internet connection.
