General Notes ---------------- It is IMPORTANT that you read this README file and all the supplied documentation BEFORE you continue the installation! Otherwise the company cannot accept any responsibility for claims that result as a consequence. ---------------------------- 2. Installation Instructions ---------------------------- 1. Download these drivers and note the path to which they reside in your system. 2. Open the Windows NT Control Panel or right-click on your desktop and choose Properties. 3. Click on the Settings tab. 4. Click the Display Type... button. 5. Click the Change... button 6. Click the Have Disk... button. 7. In the space labeled Copy manufacturers files from, type "X:\..." (where X:\... is the path to which you downloaded these drivers). 8. Next click OK when you see the driver entry: "Diamond Multimedia Systems, Inc. Stealth II Series" 9. A "Third-party Drivers" dialog box will appear, select Yes to proceed, then click OK. 10. Now click Close, then click Close again. 11. "System Settings Change" dialog box will appear, select Yes to restart the computer. 12. Once Windows NT 4.0 restarts, you will have successfully installed the software for your Diamond Stealth II S220 board. ----------------------- 3. Choosing a Monitor ----------------------- Please be aware that you can only take full advantage of the features provided by the Viper 330 Multi-Monitor driver if the other components of your system, especially the graphic monitor that is being used, also comply with the specifications of the Viper 330. (Example : The resolution 1280x1024 that is supported by the Viper 330 can obviously not be used with a monitor that is specified to only support resolutions up to 1024x768). To set the display resolution and refresh rate for Windows NT 4, use Display Properties Settings. *** IMPORTANT *** Only use settings that your monitor supports. If you use the monitor outside the specified ratings then it may suffer permanent damage! If you change the monitor then you must compare the ratings first and should reconfigure accordingly! --------------- 4. Known Issues --------------- a. Using Desktop Manager may corrupt system during reconfiguration. b. Playing video may hang the system. c. MCD does not clear screen properly. d. In order to uninstall, goto "My Computer" and delete the subdirectiries from the drive where you have it installed. e. Diamond supports up to 4 PCI boards/monitors. f. OpenGL Conformance Test: this test may show "Buffer Variance Tests" fail (e.g., CONFORM16.LOG in WHQL full regression). This kind of errror can show up where there are fairly steep changes in color or texture coordinates. Visually it can't be detected, but can be tested for. ----------------- 5.
