Kermit has been written for a wide variety of systems, both mainframes
and microcomputers. Kermit is not written in a portable language;
rather, each implementation is written in a language suited for the
particular machine. The specification, given in the Kermit Protocol
Manual, is quite general and allows implementation on almost any
machine.
