First, GeoDOS checks if the ^`1Reset Partition` Option is active on the startup drive. # If GeoDOS is installed as the Desktop a File Selection Box is opened with all of the available GO! - Files on the System Diskette. You can then select from here which Desktop you would like to return to. You must ensure that the accompanying Desktop File is available on one of the active disk drives. Example: GO/DeskTop DESK_TOP and/or 128_DESKTOP GO/DualTop DUALTOP GO/gateWay GATEWAY If GeoDOS does not find the accompanying file you are requested to insert a disk with a copy of the DeskTop. Also before leaving here GeoDOS tests whether the option ^`1Reset Partition` is activated. Attention! No Safety Query is made! GeoDOS was programmed on the C64. For this purpose a special RESET Routine was developed. It should work on all devices with different configurations. Also, System modifications through patches do not pose any problems here (e.g. RAM-Process). However, if a changed Kernal should have been built into the C64 then it can result in some mal- functions, including total system crashes. With the JiffyDOS Kernal (c) CMD there have been no problems so far. Because this Kernal is also integrated in the RAMLink and SuperCPU there should be no problems with these units either. For the C128, the Standard Kernal Routine is used. However, no warranty can be given that the C128 BASIC will start. `2*** END ***` leaving here GeoDOS tests whether the option ^`1Reset Partition` is activated. `30D`40100 `2Calling GeoDOS Help` `30D`40101 GeoDOS opens the System Diskette and searches for the file 'LoadGeoHelp', the startup file for the Help System. Moreover, geoDOS looks for the file 'GeoHelpView', the actual Help System. Should one or both of these files be unavailable an error message is displayed. GeoDOS will now start the Help System. If you leave the Help System you return directly to the GeoDOS Main Menu. Various GeoDOS Menus offer the option to call the Help System via the key . After leaving the Help System you are returned to the GeoDOS Menu you were in when you pressed . Users of GEOS128 can not start any BASIC programs from here. First, select a BASIC compatible drive. The follow- ing drive types are permitted: - C=1541 - CMD FD2000 / FD4000 - C=1571 - CMD HD - C=1581 - CMD RAMlink - RAMDrive If you choose a CMD Drive you are then prompted for a partition. All partitions are displayed with their types - 1541, 1571, 1581 and Native-Mode. Select a partition with a click of your mouse. If only one Partition is available on the drive GeoDOS bypasses this step. If you select a Native-Mode Partition then GeoDOS requests you to select a sub-directory. If no sub- directories exist then GeoDOS skips this step. Now a File Selection Box will appear listing all of the BASIC Programs. Attention! GEOS Applications and Documents do not show up here. These can't be started from BASIC. Select one of the programs from the list and it will be started. Attention! GeoDOS can only load and start Programs that are loaded from BASIC like this: 'LOAD"NAME",dev'. GeoDOS cannot start Assembler Programs that are started with a SYS command or by 'LOAD "NAME",dev,1'! `2*** END ***` ed. However, than won't be able to load the Topics from the Main Overview!
