NAME
cpmod - copy modes, ownerships and times
SYNOPSIS
cpmod
[
-m
] [
-o
] [
-t
] file other-files ...
ORIGIN
4.3BSD
DESCRIPTION
The modes, ownerships and times of
file
are set into the inodes of all of the
other-files.
If the
-m,
-o
and/or
-t
options are given, then the modes, ownerships and/or times
respectively do not participate in the transfer.
SEE ALSO
chmod(1), chown(1), utimes(2)
DIAGNOSTICS
If all three of the options are specified, then no work remains to be done
and an appropriate error-message is issued.
RESTRICTIONS
Each file actually has three timestamps but this program can only set two
of them. The third is the "last inode-modification" time and cannot be
explicitly overwritten by any program.

IDEAS
A variation on this program called
rcpmod
would be the TCP/IP network brother to
cpmod
which works strictly through the UNIX file hierarchy (including SUN NFS.)
Rcpmod
would relate to
cpmod
just like
rcp
relates to
cp.
