					WINN
			After you.

	She offers the cup to Dukat who nods.

					DUKAT
			I'm honored.

	Dukat gently sets the book down on a ledge and takes
	the goblet from Winn. Without hesitating, he sips
	the wine. Winn smiles with pleasure.

					DUKAT
			Now you.

	Winn, still smiling placidly, accepts the cup. But
	she doesn't drink it. Instead, she slowly,
	deliberately, pours the wine onto the ground.

148  ON DUKAT

	as he realizes something is very wrong. But before
	he can say a word, a wave of intense pain doubles
	him over. He tries to grab Winn's arm for support,
	but she takes a step back and Dukat falls to his
	knees. Mustering his strength, Dukat looks up
	imploringly at Winn --

					DUKAT
			Why?

	Winn stretches out her arms --

					WINN
			The Pah-wraiths demand a
			sacrifice. Someone worthy of
			them...
				(a beat)
			Who better than you?

	The Kai smiles -- we've never seen her so happy, so
	full of love and hate.
